Dental braces are special appliances used to correct:
There are different types of braces and teeth-straightening methods available to move your teeth into position over time.
Traditional metal braces are wire-based appliances. Dr. Preston-Hill places metal brackets on your teeth with an adhesive and connects them by wire. Traditional braces require periodic tightening to allow a steady pressure to gradually straighten and align your teeth and jaw.
Ceramic braces are similar to metal braces, but they’re comprised of composite materials and come in varying levels of transparency to mimic the color of your natural teeth.
Lingual braces are metal braces that attach to the back of your teeth instead of the front, making them much less noticeable.
Thanks to modern advances, near-invisible, smooth thermoplastic aligner trays are now available with a method called Invisalign.
With Invisalign teeth straightening, your teeth are shifted into alignment over time with a series of custom-made, thermoplastic aligner trays that fit comfortably and discreetly over your teeth.
Aligner trays need to be worn for at least 22 hours every day to get the best outcome. You wear your series of aligner trays until you and Dr. Preston-Hill are content with the alignment and the look and feel of your teeth and smile. The Invisalign process usually takes between six to 18 months. Dr. Preston-Hill is a qualified Six-month Smile Provider and can often complete the Invisalign process in just six months.
To take proper care of your aligners, you should remove them and rinse them with warm water every day. You might also want to brush your aligners with a soft toothbrush.
During your initial consultation, Dr. Preston-Hill produces impressions of your teeth and uses them to form a 3D model. This model helps Dr. Preston-Hill create a personalized treatment plan to map out the movements and shifting of your teeth.
With Invisalign, Dr. Preston-Hill can give you an estimated total treatment time and you can even preview your results by viewing a 3D computer simulation of how your smile will look after completion.
To make sure your teeth don’t drift out of place after your Invisalign treatment, Dr. Preston-Hill might suggest you wear a retainer made from the same material as your aligner trays.
